Senior Dog Beds

Senior Dog Beds

A good bed matters more as the years go on.

An older dog spends more time sleeping than a young one. Joints are stiffer. Mornings are slower. The bed you choose is the bed they live in, and it should be built for that.

What to look for

  • Orthopedic foam. Memory foam or a high-density slab that holds its shape under body weight year after year.
  • Low profile. Older dogs have a harder time climbing into a high-sided bed. Bolsters are fine for leaning against; the entry should be easy.
  • A washable cover. Older dogs have accidents. A zip-off cover is not a luxury, it is a requirement.
  • Slip-resistant bottom. Hardwood floors and a senior dog do not mix well without a non-skid base.

Our picks

We carry a small line of orthopedic beds made in a workshop in Tennessee. The foam is certified. The covers are washable. They are not cheap, and they are not meant to be.
