The bases have a food-grade silicone ring on the bottom, which is the difference between a bowl that slides around the counter when you whisk and one that stays put. The rims are rolled — a small detail that keeps them from feeling sharp when you grip them with wet hands.
Each bowl comes with a clear, BPA-free plastic lid that snaps on tight enough to marinate a chicken in the fridge or take potato salad to a cookout. The lids don't make the bowls airtight for long-term storage, but for the use cases that matter — overnight marinating, fridge transport, keeping cut onions from stinking up the whole fridge — they hold.
