French Press Coffee Maker 8-Cup — Borosilicate Glass

An 8-cup French press built around a borosilicate glass carafe and a four-level stainless steel filter. The filter is the part most press makers get wrong — three levels of mesh with a spring-loaded plate at the bottom to stop grounds from slipping past the seal. You get a clean cup, not the gritty bottom-of-the-mug surprise that cheaper presses leave you with.

The carafe is 34 oz, which is honest about "8 cups" — a US cup is 4 oz in coffee terms, so this is a real two-to-four-person press. The frame is a single piece of stainless steel that wraps the glass for thermal retention and shatter resistance. The handle and lid are plastic-free bakelite, which doesn't conduct heat the way metal does. Replacement carafes are sold separately in case the glass ever breaks.

Features

  • 34 oz (1 L) borosilicate glass carafe
  • Four-level stainless steel filter — clean cup, no sediment
  • Stainless steel frame, plastic-free bakelite handle and lid
  • Makes 2–4 cups of brewed coffee
  • Replacement carafe available
  • Dishwasher safe (top rack)

Care Disassemble plunger after each use and rinse. Glass carafe and metal parts are top-rack dishwasher safe. Replace the mesh filter every 12–18 months for best clarity.

Materials Borosilicate glass carafe, 18/8 stainless steel frame and filter, bakelite handle and lid.

The story The first press we ever used belonged to a friend who had been making coffee the same way since college. It was stained, it had a chipped rim, and the filter was on its last legs. The coffee was the best we'd ever had. We didn't ask what brand the press was. We asked how long he'd had it. The answer: fourteen years. We have the same goal.
