Marble Coasters Set of 4 — Natural Stone, Cork-Backed

Four 4" round coasters cut from natural Carrara or Nero Marquina marble, with a 2mm cork backing glued to the underside. The cork does two jobs: it stops the coaster from scratching the table, and it stops the coaster from sliding when you put a heavy glass on it. The marble is unsealed on top, which means it will slowly absorb whatever you set on it over the years — the patina is the point. If you prefer a sealed look, a coat of stone sealer once a year takes ten minutes.

Each coaster is a different piece of stone, and the veining pattern will vary from set to set. That's not a quality issue — it's a feature of working with a material that grew in a mountain over a few hundred million years. We polish the edges by hand to a soft 2mm roundover, which feels right when you pick one up.

Care Wipe with a soft damp cloth. For stains, a paste of baking soda and water, applied with a soft cloth, will lift most marks. Re-seal annually with stone sealer for stain protection.

The story We tested a dozen coasters made of resin and engineered stone, and the buyers we sent samples to all asked for marble by the end. The reason, we think, is that resin looks new forever, and marble looks better the longer you have it. The stains on our office coasters are mostly from the same coffee cup, every morning, for two years.
